This is based off Mushishi Vol. 6 pg. 93, chapter "The Chirping Shell" by Yuki Urushibara.
These are "Hermit reaper" or "chirping shell" mushi who come to shore to hide in shells when they detect changes in the ocean; usually indicating a disaster to come. The girl is Nami, and you'll just have to read the manga to enjoy the story!
This scene was so beautiful that I wish I could draw it. However dealing with a black and white manga panel, I had to guess a lot on the colors.
Although the clouds and sky turned out fine, I have no idea whatsoever how to draw beach sand (with seashell), so it's pretty crappy, but once I find something I like, I'll probably redo it. Any tips anyone? ;___; The shells don't seem to match too. And I half assed those mushi-birds....
